At SmartyPants we firmly believe that a high staff ratio plays an important role. We have a very dedicated team with relevant qualifications and experience and all members of staff have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
We operate a key worker system where we have a member of staff responsible for their group of children, determined by age.
Each of the key workers will plan and keep records for their individual children and monitor their development and needs. All information will be shared with parents to ensure consistency and continuity of care.
The manager of SmartyPants is supernumerary which enables sufficient staff to work directly with the children.
At SmartyPants, we feel that if children are grouped appropriately, each individual child will feel secure and grow more confident with the member of staff looking after them.
To enable the setting to operate to its greatest potential we hold regular staff meetings to discuss the overall running of the nursery. Any special events, our strengths and weaknesses, new legislation and staff training are just some of the areas we share and discuss our views on.
Yearly appraisals take place at SmartyPants, which can help to identify areas for further training.
